The fifth Book in the 'Newcastle Series'
Newcastle Slideshow presents images of Newcastle and the Hunter during the "golden era" of colour slide photography and family slide nights. The book showcases familiar, forgotten and half-remembered images from the 1950s through to the 1980s. City and suburban views, special events, workplaces, industries and people are shown in vibrant colour.

This is another book in the series by Greg & Sylvia Ray. This is the first all colour book and covers the period from 1950 to 1980. The family slideshows of this era were often a session that had to be endured. However in the book form we are taken on a wide ranging tour of Newcastle and surrounds. Some of slides will provoke personal memories of the I-was-there variety and others just memories of how it was. A book worth having for personal browsing and for showing the children and grandchildren.

as an expatriate novocastrian (1942-1970) i have really enjoyed the whole series. with this addition pretty well all the photos are as things were during that time...and now to graduate to colour..what a way to finish for me.
the series is also very popular with our visitors of whom many also have had ties with newcastle.

I have all 5 books by Greg. I originally bought the first 3 books as a Christmas present for my dad and he enjoyed reading them. Unfortunately he dies in December 2011 and they were given to me. I have continued buying the last 2 for myself and have found them interesting and informative on early Newcastle history. The slide show book is beautifully done. I have encouraged my grandchildren to look at them so they can see how it was like growing up and what our Newcastle history was about.

The range of images and areas covered made this a very interesting book. The colour images enhanced the pictues

I am almost 70 years old and I have a love of history, both local, Australian and British. I have purchased all of Greg and Sylvia's publications and have enjoyed them all. I congratulate them on their fine efforts.

This book is once again filled with lovely pictures of Newcastle & its surrounds. It is amazing to see the pictures and try to imagine where they fit into the future.
