Product Description

Last year, former press photographer Ron Morrison and his wife Liz gave Greg and Sylvia Ray access to an archive of more than 5000 photographs and negatives assembled during their time as operators of their own press agency in Newcastle. The Rays digitised the collection and are proud to present this sparkling volume of images of the city and surrounds, spanning the period from 1959 to the early 1970s. Now, more than ever, the faces and places of 50 years ago will resonate with Novocastrians as the pace of change in their city accelerates.
The book costs $40 and is available from The Herald's online bookstore, Fairfax newspaper offices throughout the Hunter and from participating newsagents and booksellers.

The book was bought for my father, a retired miner, born and bred in Newcastle and its surrounds. He has throughly enjoyed the photos and information detailing them. He claims it is the best book yet of the series!
